Morning walking, taught learning

When I read or heard somewhere that the third week of January is the most depressing time of the year I made a mental note not to start any new exercise plan until the last week of the month when most resolutions have gone by the wayside and gym classes have returned to normal capacity.  Even with the precaution of starting later in the year I still wanted to take things easy; rather than a punishing gym programme or an equally humiliating and painful class I went to bed early so I could get up for a morning walk. I’ve been told several times about the benefits of walking; weight loss, the connection to nature (not likely I’m a townie), being able to clear the mind and possibilities for inspiration. I reasoned that if I wanted to improve my writing and productivity then it was time to improve my lifestyle and get more active.

The cold certainly cleared my mind and on my return from that first outing, I was ready to tackle Module 3 on the copywriting course. The more I learn about this profession the more I like it and the more achievable it seems. Or it could just be that I’m enjoying learning something new. Either way, I’m glad I took the plunge and as someone said recently, starting a new business is half the battle, because you can talk about it forever and not actually do anything.

Earlier than scheduled and quite unexpectedly I started a Bookkeeping course as well this week. I have to confess it was a good feeling to be learning with other people again. Some of that will be down to the interaction with others, but I suspect it’s the chance to be led, instead of having to lead providing a nice change of pace. This extra course will mean the next two weeks will be very intense, leaving scant time for other tasks, but worth it to get a good business grounding. Of course, I have to deal with my I old Maths nemesis, but I found more determination knowing it would be essential to my business. I was also comforted by the fact I was not the only one in the group that feared numbers.

I’ve kept up with the daily walking it’s a good start to the day (while it’s dry anyway) and I find myself looking forward to the cold fresh air in my lungs. I hardly recognise myself in this mode, but it’s awoken something that feels right, so I’m not going to question it.
